Trees, Shrubs, and Florals
Having a beautiful, thick, green lawn doesn’t just mean taking care of the grass and removing any weeds that might pop up. It also means adding different plants, trees and shrubs to the mix to really give your lawn that extra flare. Not only does adding these extra features to your lawn give it more flare they can also add shade to your house, help with keeping certain animals away and makes your house look good too.

Shrubs
There are plenty of different shrubs to choose from to add to your lawn. By plenty, we mean hundreds. Shrubbery adds a different element to your lawn and garden area. Shrubs can bring shade or can make a dull lawn look interesting. Here is a sample list of just a few shrubs available:
| -Aloe | -Aronia | -Buxus | -Colletia |
| -Dryas | -Erica | -Fabiana | -Gordonia |
| -Hypericum | -Itea | -Lyceum | -Magnolia |
| -Nerium | -Olearia | -Prunus | -Quassia |
| -Rubus | -Salvia | -Thymus | -Ulex |
| -Vinca | -Weigela | -Xylosma | -Yucca |
| -Zenobia |
Adding Shade
What many people don’t realize when purchasing shrubbery, trees or other floral products for their home and garden is that they can add shade to the house. This added shade can do wonders for an electric bill. If you place the trees and shrubbery in the perfect places, like near windows, you might not have to use your air conditioning as much as other people might need to. The trees can provide shade from the sun and keep the sun from sending its warm rays into your house through the windows. Using your air conditioner less means having a lower electric bill!

Pest Avoidance
Many trees and shrubs can help to keep some pests and insects away. There are some plants available for purchase at garden centers that are grown specifically for keeping deer and other animals that eat shrubbery, grass and vegetation out of your yard. Some shrubs also help to prevent the accumulation of insects such as moths, bees and flies. There are some plants though that are specifically grown to enhance the presence of some insects or bugs, like butterflies. There are butterfly bushes that help with attracting butterflies to a garden to add a special touch.
Home Security
Shrubs and trees can also be used as home security measures. How? Make sure you always keep the trees and shrubs around your windows and doors trimmed and neatly cut so neighbors can notice anyone lurking around the outside of your house. You might even be able to see someone ducking behind a shrub or hiding behind a tree alongside your house when you get home from work or school and can call the police. If the shrubbery isn’t kept well trimmed then it will be easier for a possible burglar to hide behind them and stay out of view.
As discussed earlier, trees, shrubs and other floral products can add a certain flare to any home, garden or lawn. They can also keep pests and other animals away and can be helpful to your home’s security.
